Release 011: Hindenburg - Raw Sex Dream (Translated)

Translation by: Boutoku
Edited by: Boutoku
Proof-read by: Toki-kun and Frost

Brief Summary:

Yayyyy~! We have another super special release for you guys today!  Boutoku headed this project and the final product is just wonderful!
Here we have a middle-school-aged straight-shota doujinshi in which there are three girls and one boy.  There is nothing PG-13 about this book, it's straight R-18 XD hehehe
I'll try to explain the plot without giving away too much;
So there's a boy, Kyousuke Wakamatsu, and his girlfriend, Mio, they may be young but they have already discovered the pleasures of voyeuristic sex.
Mio shows her two best friends a snap shot of a "special" moment between her and Wakamatsu-kun.  Mio's friends then tell her how cool she is and somehow it is decided that they all get together and bang ;) ... what ensues is pure naughtiness, with lots of snapshots.
The artwork is so kawaiiii~ and the text is raunchy, this is a great book, even for those of you that are "shota-only" fans, trust me-this book is great!!!! (Have I steered ya wrong yet with these summaries? XD)

Sadly, the story is so good that it has already been translated last year. Perhaps a check on E-Hentai (Exhentai for shota) and Manga Updates before starting a new project can prevent this situation from reoccurring.
Thanks all the same...

Thanks for the tip about checking those sites before beginning a new translation, JukanX. I'll be sure to keep that in mind before I start another translation. ^^

Honestly though, I translate what I like, so no promises this won't happen again~ XD

Ah okay, if you purposely decide to provide a different version then it's fine I guess, especially if the first one is subpar...
Actually that ensures that I will actually read the release immediately, instead of just parking it in my reading queue; I only keep the best of the two versions (by translation accuracy, editing quality, overall size, etc) so I have to cross-check them with the raw...

Thank you for the heads up JukanX, it's as Boutoku said, sometimes we just start a project and finish it and have no idea there is another translated project, in this community it's very hard to keep track of what stories were translated and what weren't, the internet is such a vast place!

I've seen this a few times with translators not knowing there was another copy of a book done. That in itself is a bit frustrating XD .. I mean, it's not exactly super easy to do a book complete with editing and translation so to find out another did it ... well ... it's a bit disheartening.

Thank you though for bringing this matter to our attention, it's important to try to avoid these situations for a numerous amount of reasons but unfortunately it's not an exact science ;)

Sites like Exhentai and Manga Update are nice but even they don't include everything, ya know?

I can assure you all that we did not know of the other translated book and this one was done to the best of our abilities to match the original story and ideas. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.

This is just too stupid to let pass. :P

JukanX: If your claims to cross-checking your downloaded translations with the raws for translation accuracy are correct...then why in the world do you bother with reading translations in the first place?

Of course, it's good to let translators know when they make duplicates, but I hardly think your second post, listing your apparently pretty rigorous quality control was quite warranted...it just makes you sound like an arrogant douche.

@Anon#2: Why do I read English translations when I'm able to read originals? Basically, just plain laziness: While none of them are my first language, reading Japanese still takes me 10x the time, what with looking up uncommon ideograms and all. Much as I don't go everywhere by foot, even if I'm able to walk.

I do commission translations from time to time and contribute to donor/joint projects, but when I do it's not because I wouldn't otherwise be able to make sense of the story, but to bring authors/fetishes that I like in front of a wider audience.
In fact, strange as it may seem I rarely do read the translations I pay for, because I've already read them in the original (to ensure that there's a bit of story to make them worth the translators' time).

To be honest I think that the tone of my second comment ended up sounding harsher than intended. I didn't mean that I hate when re-translations do happen because I have to check both versions, but that I'm half-glad that I get the occasion to actually read something that otherwise might well have ended up sitting unread in my queue forever; and that I don't consider it a waste of translators' time if they knowingly choose to redo someone else's half-assed job. If I hurt anybody's feelings with that second post I apologize.

However it is my opinion is that I shouldn't waste disk space storing something of which a better version exists, and if that makes me an arrogant douche so be it. What's your excuse, by the way?

Okay. First off, thanks for taking the time to answer and reveal your point of view to me; I really appreciate that, especially in this kind of medium and setting, where it was hardly obligatory for you to do so.

And, hearing your elaboration of this made it much more understandable. It seemed to me before that you were both saying you had such fluency in Japanese that you could read perfectly on the fly and compare your direct translations with other translators' work, and check its quality like that, and that, as you said, you seemed snippy with Ucho/Boutoku and others who knowingly or unknowingly make duplicate translations because they waste your time.

Before I say anything further, I guess I should say that I'm Frost, translator on this site. The reason I'm posting anonymously, and didn't say anything about it in my last comment was both because of forgetfulness and because I just felt the need to get it out of my system and didn't really think this would go anywhere. That's really all I can offer as an excuse for not signing my post.

As it stands now, I must say I have quite a bit of respect for you, JukanX. You seem to read and commission translations for much the same reasons I decided to begin doing them, and I really appreciate hearing about others with those kinds of views. I'd like to apologize for my own harsh words as well, and hope that I didn't put you off the site.

Sincerely,
Frost
